Connecticut State Officials have confirmed that a woman who fell through a hole in the ground has died at a local hospital. Anita Goodwin, 55 year-olds, from Broad Brook, Connecticut, was working at a construction site for the Grand Lofts apartment complex. At around 7:30 a.m., she fell about 10 feet. There was a hole leading from the first story to the basement where stairs where expected to be placed.

Ms. Goodwin was taken by Lifestar to the Hartford Hospital, where she died later that day from her injuries. Ms. Goodwin was a private contractor brought on for this project.  An investigation as to how the accident could have happened is currently ongoing and being jointly handled by the Vernon, Police Department, OSHA and building officials.
