One of the workers involved in taking apart an old courthouse in Claremore, Oklahoma has been injured after being struck by a solid block of concrete.
This past Thursday, March 27, 2014, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a group of workers employed by Champion Concrete of Tulsa, Oklahoma were dismantling block of concrete of an old courthouse building being leveled to build a parking area. As the workers were sawing through the concrete blocks, an 8 by 4 foot block of concrete fell on top one of the workers, trapping him underneath its weight.
Emergency responders from the Claremore Fire Department freed the trapped worker. The injured man was airlifted to the emergency room of a Tulsa hospital. Hospital officials say that the worker’s personal injuries do not appear life threatening.
Claremore Police are investigating the circumstances of the construction site accident.
